University Roadmap: Compare KUCCPS Courses & 2024/2025 Cut-Off Points
Planning your university path after KCSE requires a clear understanding of KUCCPS cluster points and course cut-off points. These determine which degree or diploma programmes you qualify for and how competitive your application will be.
What KUCCPS Cut-Off Points Mean
• After KCSE results are released, KUCCPS uses cluster points calculated from specific KCSE subjects to determine eligibility.
• Each university course has a minimum cut-off point that applicants must meet or exceed to be considered for placement.
• Courses with higher demand, such as Medicine or Engineering, usually have higher cut-off points.
Cluster Points Explained (Simple Guide)
KUCCPS cluster points are calculated using subject combinations relevant to each course. Examples include:
• Engineering & Architecture – Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English or Kiswahili.
• Education & Humanities – English, Kiswahili, History, Geography, or Religious Studies.
• Business & Commerce – Mathematics, Business Studies, Economics, and English or Kiswahili.
Your grades in these subjects are converted into points and weighted to form your cluster score.
Indicative Cut-Off Ranges for Common Courses
(These ranges are illustrative and vary by university and year.)
• Medicine & Surgery – Very high competition, often 65+
• Engineering courses – Highly competitive, typically 58–62
• Computer Science / IT – Competitive, around 55–60
• Bachelor of Education (Arts/Sciences) – Moderate, around 48–55
• Business & Commerce – Mid-range, often 45–52
• Social Sciences & Humanities – Moderate, around 42–50
How to Use This Information
Review your KCSE mean grade and subject scores.Identify the subject cluster required for your preferred course.Compare your cluster score with recent cut-off ranges.Select a mix of competitive and realistic course options.
Why This Matters
